Monday Volleyball: C-R, Fillmore, Houghton ladies come away victorious with victories at home; Lady Panthers remain unbeaten at 4-0

CUBA — The Lady Rebels of Cuba-Rushford dominated much of the action Monday night to start a brand new week of volleyball, as they conquered a match that saw them come away with a straight-set win, recording the 25-15, 25-14, 25-16 victory over visiting Genesee Valley/Belfast.

Summer Mattison led the way on the offensive front for the Lady Rebels with a team-leading eight kills to go with her eight aces from the service line, one assist and one block. Brianna Green helped the offensive cause by providing six more kills to go with two blocks at the net, and one ace. Quincy Tylor chipped in with 22 assists.

Genesee Valley/Belfast was led by Kaitlin Sadler, who had a team-high four kills to go one block and one assist. Addy Herring had six assists at the net to pair with her three aces.

Both teams are back in action Wednesday night on their home floors, with Cuba-Rushford welcoming in Hinsdale, while Genesee Valley/Belfast heads back home to welcome in Bolivar-Richburg. Both games are slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Fillmore 3, Hinsdale 0

FILLMORE — Along with the Lady Rebels, the Lady Eagles of Fillmore also brought out the brooms in home contest, as they rolled past visiting Hinsdale in straight sets by a 25-14, 25-19, 25-22 count.

Leading the charge for Fillmore was Jadyn Mucher, who tallied a team-high three kills to go with two aces. Brooklyn Long chipped in with two more kills to go with one ace. Setter Raylynn Ryan dished out 15 assists to help the cause, along with two more aces.

Hinsdale was led by Larissa Kirtz on defense, who provided a team-leading nine digs. Kylie Leonard provided a strong performance from the service line, garnering 15 service points to pair with her eight assists and four aces. Lindsey Veno had five more service points to add to go with three digs, two aces and a kill.

Both teams are back in action Wednesday night, with the Lady Eagles playing host to Archbishop Walsh in a 5:30 p.m. contest, while Hinsdale heads to Cuba-Rushford for a 7:30 p.m. battle with the Lady Rebels.

Houghton Academy 3, Bolivar-Richburg 2

HOUGHTON — It took five sets to do it, but after Monday night’s tussle with the Lady Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg, Houghton Academy remained unbeaten on the season, as they squeezed by with a five-set victory (26-24, 21-25, 26-24, 25-15, 25-23) to move to 4-0.

The Lady Panthers will have a quick turnaround tonight at Archbishop Walsh, visiting the Lady Eagles in a 5:30 p.m. contest. As for the Lady Wolverines, they will hit the road and visit Genesee Valley/Belfast for a 7:30 p.m. battle for the Lady Jaguars on Wednesday.
