Monday Roundup: Lady Lions win seventh straight game, sweep Addison in straight sets to move to 7-0
WELLSVILLE — The Lady Lions continued rolling along to start a brand new week after the Spring Break, as they returned home to face visiting Addison on Monday and moved to 7-0 on the season by the end of the night, recording the straight-set sweep on the Lady Knights (25-16, 25-6, 25-20).
Marley Adams led the offensive attack for Wellsville (7-0), garnering a team-high five kills. Jaelyn Knapp provided three more kills to go with two blocks and two aces. Makenna Dunbar led the service from the line, tallying seven big aces to pair with two kills. Kaylee Coleman added in four aces to go with two more kills.
Wellsville will continue their hot streak into Arkport on Wednesday, as they prepare for a 7:15 p.m. first serve with the Lady Wolves of Arkport/Canaseraga.
Cuba-Rushford 3, Hinsdale 0
CUBA — The Lady Rebels of Cuba-Rushford used a dominating first set of play against visiting Hinsdale to set the tone immediately in their return to action on Monday, as they rolled toward a straight-set win over the Lady Bobcats (25-4, 25-10, 25-18).
The Lady Rebels (5-1) provided a strong showing in the service department throughout the course of the night, with Meghan O’Keefe leading the way with a team-high 10 aces to pair with her two kills and one dig on defense.
Helping the cause was Cameron Shaw, who added in six aces herself to go with four kills. Setter Quincy Tylor dished out 13 assists to go along with two more aces.
Hinsdale was led by Larissa Kurtz on defense, as she garnered seven digs. On offense, Lindsey Veno provided three kills, while Kenzington Wesley had three digs, one kill and one block to add for the Lady Bobcats, who head out to Bolivar-Richburg for a 6 p.m. first serve tonight.
The Lady Rebels will also return to the floor tonight in a quick turnaround, as they prepare for a return on their home floor, welcoming in the Fillmore Lady Eagles for a 7:30 p.m. first serve.
