NYSSWA releases Boys Hoops All-State teams, with Fillmore’s Mucher, Bialek garnering 1st, 2nd team nods; B-R’s Barkley scores 10th team nomination, Wellsville’s Vogel nets honorable mention

ROCHESTER — With the end of the 2024-25 school year beginning to wind down in the midst of a chaotic Spring sports season thus far, the New York State Sportswriters Association (NYSSWA) officially put their cap on this past winter indoors with their release of their All-State Boys Basketball teams.

On the list, local standouts Cam Mucher and Jonah Bialek ignited the way for the Eagles of Fillmore in Class D after a phenomenal season on the hardwood, while Wellsville’s Ty Vogel and Bolivar-Richburg’s Landon Barkley were among many basketball stars that also scooped up some recognition.

Mucher and Bialek both served as two massive catalysts in the midst of what was Fillmore’s best season under head coach Randy Crouch, as they guided the Eagles all the way to the Section V, Class D Finals for the first time since 2010, winning their first title in 15 years in the process while capturing a spot in the Class D Far West Regional along the way. Mucher garnered a first team nomination, while Bialek followed with a second team nomination in the State for Class D.

Elsewhere in Class D, Avoca-Prattsburgh’s JJ Crowder received a third-team nomination. Jasper-Troupsburg’s James Ainsworth scored a sixth-team nomination, while Andover/Whitesville’s Brody Vance and Colton Calladine, along with Jasper-Troupsburg’s Landon Zver, all received honorable mentions.

In Class C, Bolivar-Richburg saw two of their leading scorers — Landon Barkley and Kingston Loucks, both pick up recognition from the Empire State, with Barkley ending his illustrious career with the Wolverines with a 10th team nomination, while Loucks received an honorable mention.

Arkport-Canaseraga’s Caden Carey was selected to the ninth team All-State also within Class C.

Further up the classification chain, only four selections were made across a jam-packed Class B field, with Bath-Haverling’s Jake Hagadone scoring a ninth-team selection in his final season on the hardwood. Canisteo-Greenwood’s Carson Chaffee netted a 10th team All-State nod, while Wellsville’s Ty Vogel and Hornell’s PJ Picco were selected as honorable mentions.
