Canisteo-Greenwood uses electric offense to roll past host Lady Rebels with big 80-37 victory over the road

CUBA — Three different scorers recorded double digits in the Canisteo-Greenwood scorebook, but the night belonged to Lillian Mullen, who recorded a career evening for the Lady Redskins by sinking four three-pointers to put toward a game-high 30 points in the team’s 80-37 victory over host Cuba-Rushford on Friday.

“Canisteo is a tough team. Credit to them, they have an eighth grader that shoots the ball spectacularly, and they move the ball really well for being such a young team.” said Lady Rebels coach Aaron Wight.

Mullen’s impact was made almost immediately on the floor for the Lady Redskins (5-0), setting the tone in the first eight minutes of play with 11 of the team’s 17 points in their 17-7 run of the Lady Rebels. With a double-digit lead heading into the locker room, the visitors in red built upon it on their way back out for the third quarter, outscoring Cuba-Rushford by a 23-6 margin to pull away for good.

Kate Howe led the Lady Rebels (2-4) offense with a team-leading 17 points, including a perfect 3-for-3 at the charity stripe. Taylor Searle added nine points, while Elysa Tylor sank a pair of three-pointers for six points.

Cuba-Rushford is off until after the holiday break, returning to action on January 4 with a grudge match against the Lady Redskins, this time at Canisteo-Greenwood. Tip-off is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
