Monday Roundup: Lady Wolverines roll past Oswayo Valley; Fillmore, Scio boys collect wins

BOLIVAR – Monday night was a night that belonged to the Lady Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg, as they broke free from visiting Oswayo Valley in the second half after a closely contested first half of play, holding the Lady Green Wave to a single point on the floor, as they rolled their way toward a 48-14 win.

The Lady Wolverines (2-1) found their way on top early on in the evening, with each team exchanging a basket before the hosts made a big 9-0 run that lasted over five minutes. Oswayo Valley found a way to close out the quarter strong however, recording the last five points to trail by three entering the second.

Both teams fought tooth and nail once more in the second quarter, but the Lady Wolverines were able to get the last say before heading to the locker room, as McKinlee Harris put away the lay-in before time expired to give Bolivar-Richburg a 17-13 lead at the break.

In the second half, the hosts added to their lead for good, sealing the deal on their victory with a 31-1 outscoring of Oswayo Valley, including a third quarter shutout in the form of a 19-0 run.

“I keep telling the girls to keep building and building, and we did,” Bolivar-Richburg coach Justin Thomas said. “Even though we had a first half that was a little lackluster, and we had our looks, we built an amazing third quarter coming out. We just jumped right out, used the press to our advantage, and it worked to carry the momentum our way.”
