GIRLS SOCCER
Belfast 6, Friendship 0

FRIENDSHIP — Electricity was in the air for the Belfast Lady Bulldogs, as they ran wild on offense with a half dozen goals that helped them propel their way toward five wins in the last six games, taking the 6-0 shutout over the road in Friendship on Friday.

Near the halfway mark of the opening half, Belfast (5-1) kicked their offense into high gear with Cierra Wallace having the honors of breaking the ice with the team’s first goal. Later on, Alicia Borden got on the board with two of her own, scoring both back-to-back in a five minute span to put the Lady Bulldogs ahead by three at the half. Mary Hamer was credited with the assist on Borden’s first goal.

In the second half, Harley Proctor made it a 4-0 lead just four minutes into the new session. The scoring wrapped up with back-to-back goals in 60 seconds, as Abby Sullivan and Kelsi Morton found the back of the net in a rapid succession. Borden assisted with Sullivan’s second goal of the season.

Belfast outshot Friendship (1-5-1) by a 10-2 count, with Kaitlin Sadler making both stops to preserve the shutout. Madeline Lerro made four stops on the other end for the Lady Golden Eagles.

Both teams will meet again in Friendship on Thursday for a 7 p.m. matchup. Beforehand, the Lady Golden Eagles will travel to Andover/Whitesville for the County’s lone game in action, a quick turnaround today at 2 p.m.
