Top-seeded Allegany-Limestone finishes off 2023-24 campaign with perfection, sweep No. 2 Ark-Can in straight sets to become Allegany County Boys Volleyball Champions for 1st time in program history

ALLEGANY — In just their second year of fielding competition from within the boys volleyball scene in the Wintertime, the Allegany-Limestone Gators would make their second Championship appearance behind what has been their most dominant display of volleyball yet. Each and every game against their Allegany County League foes, they have come out victorious.

All of that winning, it has led to Thursday night — the very last game of the season. Just one more victory separated them from complete and utter perfection.

Like they have since the campaign’s beginning back in early December, the result would not go unchanged.

Paced by a stellar opening set start against the visiting Wolves, the Gators used it to set the tone right away. Although Arkport-Canaseraga was able to push away some late pressure in the third set to stay right alongside their opposition, the game would sway in the direction of a straight-set sweep, as Allegany-Limestone became Allegany County League Champions for the first time in program history with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-20 win.

The Gators, who will finish the season with an undefeated and immaculate record of 19-0, were led by a big offensive night from Josh Nolder, who recorded 14 kills to pair with 16 digs on defense. AJ Riordan followed up with 10 more kills on the attack himself.

On defense, Jesse Decker did his very best to keep the ball from hitting the floor, leading the team with 23 digs, while setter CJ Ellison handed out 25 assists to aid the offense as the centerpiece on the floor.

Statistics for the Wolves were not made available to report upon publication. Arkport-Canaseraga officially concludes their brilliant 2023-24 campaign with a record of 14-3 overall.
