Quartet of Lady Wolverines softball standouts pen next chapter of athletic careers, as Harris sisters, Ayers, Mascho sign dotted line for college this Fall

BOLIVAR — The final chapter of their high school sagas have been written. Now, the question is: What’s next?

Four of Bolivar-Richburg’s softball standouts gathered some new sheets of paper, and began writing their new story that will take effect this fall at college, as McKinlee and Madigan Harris, Malayna Ayers and Haley Mascho signed away on the dotted line this past week to continue their education and athletic careers.

The Lady Wolverines of Bolivar-Richburg were able to have one of their best seasons in recent memory because of their senior leadership that led the way not only defensively, but at the plate as well, as they went on to become three-time Section V champions under head coach Brooke Lovell, along with reaching the Class C Far West Regional game for the first time in nearly 10 years.

The Harris Siblings provided a strong 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup for the Lady Wolverines all season long, with McKinlee Harris leading the top of the order with a career year. On top of being the team’s leading hitter with 53 hits, McKinlee shattered a school record with her .576 batting average, posting 10 doubles, four triples, a pair of home runs while driving in 26 runs, scoring 45 of her own and stealing 25 bases.

Harris was named an Allegany County All-Star for her efforts, and will now get set to attend Alfred State College this fall, where she will continue her soccer and softball career.

Her twin sister Madigan, also provided an incredible season of her own batting at the No. 2 spot in the team’s lineup, batting .449 on the season with 35 total hits, recording 11 doubles, two triples and a trio of home runs, all while driving in 32 runs and scoring 37 herself. She also picked up an All-Star nod from the county and will join McKinlee in continuing her education and athletic pursuits at Alfred State College, playing soccer and softball.

Perhaps the engine that made the Lady Wolverines go from start to finish, was Malayna Ayers, who had a senior season she will never forget. As a dual threat from both at the plate and from within the circle, Ayers was simply unstoppable all season long, posting a 9-3 record from in the circle with nearly 100 strikeouts across 80 innings pitched. At the plate, the Bolivar-Richburg senior completely obliterated another one of the school’s records for most home runs in a season, accounting for 11 of them in her 43-hit campaign while scoring a .524 average along the way.

Ayers also posted 13 doubles, four triples and drove in 39 runs to pave the way towards an Allegany County League Co-MVP honor alongside Friendship/Scio’s Nevaeh Ross, as well as being named the MVP of the Class C2 Championship game. Malayna will head east to Corning Community College, where she will continue her softball career next spring playing with the Lady Red Barons.

Haley Mascho rounds off an incredible quartet of Lady Wolverines with a perfect season from within the circle, going 9-0 on the season while striking out 62 batters and walking just one across 52 total innings pitched. At the plate, her efforts were just as equal, batting .460 on the season while recording 40 hits. Mascho delivered 13 doubles and a pair of triples, while driving in 30 and scoring 43 runs of her own.

Mascho will head to the Finger Lakes region to continue her success story, as she gets set to take the field next spring for the Keuka College Lady Wolves.

WellsvilleSports.com would like to congratulate and wish all four Bolivar-Richburg seniors the very best in their next journey ahead.
