Lady Lions finish South Carolina trip strong behind combined 3-hit gem from Perry, Hallock, as offense explodes early in 8-0 shutout of SC’s Central Eagles

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The Wednesday credo for the Lady Lions of Wellsville and their southern trip finale was simple: Finish strong.

After an even split directly down the middle of their first two contests in Myrtle Beach, the defending Class B Champions looked to put the finishing touches on their Spring Break trip with overwhelming success.

Their ensuing bounce back made a close 4-3 decision to the hands of Lake Braddock on Monday a thing of the past. Fresh off a dominant shutout over North Lincoln, the Lady Lions went on to do it all over again against the Central Lady Eagles, who hail from within the Palmetto State, as Kennedy Perry and Brynn Hallock combined forces within the circle to toss a three-hit gem while the offense rode their high horse early to set up an 8-0 afternoon shutout in five innings.

Wellsville (7-1) wasted absolutely no time lighting the match for their offense, as they immediately took the lead over Central with a red hot opening at-bat, posting a big four-run frame that ultimately laid the foundation down moving forward. Although the Lady Lions bats came up empty across back-to-back scoreless frames with their opposition, they further solidified their victory with the last four runs of the game — three coming in the bottom of the fourth to officially pull out of reach from the Lady Eagles.

When it was all said and done, the Lady Lions assembled a nine-hit display of offense, with three different hitters recording at least a pair at the dish.

Charging the efforts were both Natalie Adams and Kennedy Perry, as each Lady Lion scored two hits, including a triple, with Adams scoring two runs and Perry driving in a run. Averee Palmatier also chipped in with two hits, posting an RBI along the way while Teagan Burke and Makenna Dunbar each had a double.

In the circle, the win belonged to Perry across four shutout innings of stellar work, as she struck out eight and walked three. Hallock then came on in the fifth and final inning to shut the door on Central, handing out one more chair to help finish off a triumphant Spring Break finale.

The Lady Lions will enjoy their final days in South Carolina before spending the weekend traveling back home. They will return to action back up north on Monday, hitting the road once more for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch at Cowanesque Valley.
