Lady Panthers offense erupts for seven goals to put toward 5th win in six games, shut out visiting Friendship by 7-0 count

ANDOVER — The high-flying offense belonging to Andover/Whitesville continues to soar to big heights on the soccer field. All four of their victories entering Saturday afternoon, have all come via shutout. With Allegany County’s only game in action, the Lady Panthers added another to the list, as they recorded their third straight victory and fifth shutout of the season, rolling to a 7-0 home win over visiting Friendship.

Out of the seven goals that were scored in the contest, five of them were put into the back of the net in the first 40 minutes of play. The first two goals by Andover/Whitesville (5-1) were scored in just a 24 second span, as Zoey Lee and Kelsie Niedermaier each scored one of their multiple goals to get the ball rolling, with Lee assisting on Niedermaier’s tally. Kennedy Bledsoe had a hand in creating Lee’s first of three goals, earning the helper.

Past the halfway mark, Lee added her second after receiving a feed from Gabby Terhune to branch the lead to three. With 8:22 left to go, Gabbi Hall got onto the board with her first goal of the season, coming on an unassisted basis. The scoring in the first half was closed out by Niedermaier’s second of the game off Terhune’s second assist with under 90 seconds remaining.

In the next 40 minute stanza, Andover/Whitesville collected two more goal just under five minutes in with Lee’s third and final goal, and her team-leading 10th of the season off a feed from Rachel Jackson. Jackson had the last score for the Lady Panthers just two minutes later, receiving a pass from Niedermaier that set it up at the 33:26 mark.

In all, Andover/Whitesville compiled 26 total shots on goal in the contest, while the defense held Friendship (1-6-1) to just three back the other way. Livia Simon recorded her fifth shutout in between the pipes, making all three stops for the hosts in purple. In the opposite goal, Karlee Cochran made 19 saves for the Lady Golden Eagles.

Next week, both teams will have the Scio Lady Tigers as their next game, with Friendship getting the primary honor first on Tuesday, as they head back out on the road for a 7 p.m. visit to Scio.

Andover/Whitesville will be up next a few days later for a 7 p.m. contest of their own, Thursday night.
