Lady Lions finish out regular season with perfection, sweep visiting Canisteo-Greenwood to head into Sectionals with 11-0 record; C-R, B-R, Houghton split County title
WELLSVILLE — The Lady Lions have been nothing short of perfect this Spring. Entering their regular season finale, Wellsville was one victory away from finishing the regular season immaculately. Canisteo-Greenwood was the final obstacle they had to overcome, Friday night to make it all happen.
They went on to do just that in dominating fashion, as the Lady Lions brought out the brooms one last time to sweep the Lady Redskins back to the buses and out of town, as they rolled to a straight-set victory to close out their regular slate on the highest of notes by a 25-8, 25-9, 25-15 count.
On the offensive front, Brooklyn Stisser led the way for the Lady Lions (11-0) with a team-high six kills to go with two aces. From the service line, Jaelyn Knapp served up a team-high five aces to pair with her one kill. Marley Adams added in three aces of her own to go with two kills.
In other volleyball news, the Allegany County League Champions have been crowned, as the league was decided this past week through a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard. Cuba-Rushford, Bolivar-Richburg and Houghton Academy all take home pieces of this year’s County title, as they look to add more in the Sectional tournament, which begins next week.
As for the Lady Lions, they finish a stunning regular season with perfection — an 11-0 record under first-year head coach Shannon Steiner heading into the Sectional tournament next week.
