At Wolverine Holiday Scuffle, B-R’s MacDonell records 150th career victory, Sibble named Most Outstanding to close out calendar year; Wolverines back to regular season action Thursday vs. Ark-Can

BOLIVAR — While the action began to heat up with multiple post-Christmas tournaments across the area on the basketball court, the wrestling mats in Bolivar were out in full force in the upper and lower gyms for their annual two-day Wolverine Holiday Scuffle, which met its ultimate conclusion Friday morning.

For the host Wolverines, momentum was built when they entered their annual holiday tournament, after a strong back-and-forth battle against longtime rival Wellsville right before the break gave them their first win of the season. All of that reinforcement they established, was put to good use to close out the calendar year on a high note.

Ahead of second place Bath-Haverling and third place Portville, Bolivar-Richburg was able to put a cap on the holidays with a perfect 9-0 record on the mat across the two days of action, as they witnessed six different grapplers all finish with undefeated performances on the mat.

Amongst the top finishers were Tavyn MacDonell, who added nine wins to his resume, putting it towards another career hallmark for the program — 150 career victories. Teegan Sibble had a spectacular 9-0 performance of her own to fuel the team’s perfect cause along the way, as she was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler for her efforts.

Gary McDowell, Presley McDowell, Trey Buchholz and Caden Allen all followed up with 9-0 tenures on the mat to round off the Wolverines.

Bolivar-Richburg will return to regular season action after the New Year, as they welcome Arkport-Canaseraga into town for battle at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
